back to the emails again

.

A new supermarket opened in Topeka , KS. It has an
automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes
on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.
When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and you experience
the scent of fresh mown hay. In the meat department there is the aroma
of charcoal grilled steaks with onions.. When you approach the egg
case, you hear hens cluck and cackle, and the air is filled with the
pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying. The bread department features
the tantalizing smell of fresh baked bread and cookies.

I don't buy toilet paper there any more.

"Good things" I've read???

.
Sometimes it's worth opening emails:

Garbage Truck Rule . . .

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the
airport. We were driving in the right lane when
suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space
right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and
missed the other car by just inches! The driver of
the other car whipped his head around and started
yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And
I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy
almost ruined your carand sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now
call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.
They run around full of garbage, full of frustration,
full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their
garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and
sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them
well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread
it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let
garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with
regrets, so ... 'Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.' Life is ten percent what
you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

What a great philosophy.

.

Now that's entertainment !!!

.

Amazing!

That darn email again

.

One day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very Sexy nightie.
'Tie me up,' she purred, 'and you can do anything you want.'
So he tied her up and went golfing.
Uncle Niles sent it!!!

Gee, has anybody noticed

Nah! I didn't think so

.

Done!!!

.

I finally finished reading Ghost Wars (that's the short title). I wish I could tell you how it ends but the story's not over... yet.
Then I picked up another book and finished it. Now I am into another.
Fiction flows so much better than reality.

Don't confuse the above title with the one further down the list. . . THE GHOST WAR

Yesterday was almost hot

.

Today is predicted to be officially hot. It did hit triple digits. In fact some local communities set new records for high temperatures. It was never quite uncomfortable. . . always a plus. . . except when getting back into the car after it had been parked for awhile.
thank goodness for a/c

Who's gonna clean up that mess?

.

So I was just minding my own business and trying to be aware of the traffic and pedestrians around me as I drove home last even. When, literally, out of the blue a humongous sloppy, messy glob of bird [expletive deleted] hit the windshield just to the left of directly in front of me. I don't know what kind of bird it was, but I think it must be related to the one that perches in the oak tree in our front yard and leaves evidence in the driveway.
I really am glad
that I wasn't

In case anyone is wondering

.

I haven't added to my reading list lately because I am still reading Ghost Wars blah, blah, blah, etc.
It is fairly dry with a lot of information to absorb. It is interesting and gives some pretty fair insight as to why some pretty serious stuff happened.
I may finish it sometime next week.

.

So let's talk about the weather

.
Right now it is sunny and calm. The temperature is 73º on the way to 72º. That's what the weather thingy says. As soon as the weather system to our north passes, it is supposed to warm up. . . like to the triple digits for the weekend.
nice weather for a bike ride

I've been checking my emails assiduously diligently. There's been absolutely nothing worth passing along. . . unless you want to switch to Dish Network.

I opened another email!!!

.

Who is your real friend?

This really works...!

If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.

Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for an hour or so.

When you open the trunk, which one is really happy to see you?

Then call me and tell
me how it worked out.

For some reason everywhere I wan to visit on the clickyweb this morning has a slow... no, slower than slow connection.
The sun is shining and there are better things to do.

Maybe later?

At least you're honest about it

.

That's more like it.

.
The local alternative* newsblog has a story that should appeal to to many. It's about eating and sex and it is neither bad news or good.

*in that it is not using material created by the local print media... they write their own stories

thoughts while not shaving

.
My inspiration processor seems to be acting up lately. Either that or I am trying too hard? Maybe staying indoors is the problem? Well, the weather is supposed to break tomorrow.

No, I'm not growing the beard
or mustache again.
I just don't shave every morning.

If I didn't check my email

.

Ha!

.

Did I say that?

.
Not long after yesterday's last post the phone rang.
Long story short, I went out in the rain... again... to deliver some paperwork that some else gave to me for safekeeping. Fortunately I didn't actually have to attend the meeting. I had nothing to add anyway. Most of the time it seems like any input is ignored anyway.

Wet

.
A glance at the weather map shows that the northern 1/3 of the state is blanketed with rain with no sign of it ending any time soon.

I just checked my email and found out that there is a Bike Ride meeting in 20 minutes. I don't think I am going to make it.

grumble
.

...and another thing

.
There's those institutions that are so insecure that they have to send a questionnaire every time they provide a service. Sometimes (most times?) it takes longer to fill out the questionnaire than the original contact. The worst part about the inquiries is that they try to be too specific and usually miss asking the right questions. What really bugs me is when I get a second notice because I didn't respond to the first.
It's almost as bad as telemarketers.

.

Maddening

.
There are all kinds of widgets and cool things we can do with blogs, but one of the things that irritates me is the inability to completely format the text in the comments. Then there are the occasions when what little formatting that is allowed is ignored.
Aaaaaaugh!

I don't get it

.
The daily from up the road printed a story about a DUI incident in Fremont, Nebraska.. Something about $26,000 in damages to fences, power poles, a house and the alleged driver's car.
I probably wouldn't have even noticed except we have friends in Fremont. The article was published under the heading Off Topic. I can't think of anything much more off topic than the report of a DUI arrest in a small community halfway across the country from here.

Maybe it is a warning that we
should stay away when
we travel back to the Lions
International Convention?

A little help here

.
There has been a lot of buzz recently about Twitter. My curiosity causes some wonderment about this phenomenon. It appears to be geared to folks who are totally involved in themselves and cannot complete a complex thought.

or...

Maybe it's about sending text messages to the whole world?

There needs
to be some
'splaining to me

.

WT...?

.
I guess it was bound to happen.
The local daily finally printed what they consider good news above the fold.

Good grief!!!

What should we discuss?

.
There's been a lot of talk lately about how the media has jumped on the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) bandwagon lately, even to the point of only giving a cursory glance at President Obama's first 100 days.
Yes, it is important that we be informed that we may be subject to exposure, what symptoms to look for and how to best recuperate. But it seems like a lot of ink is being used to predict dire consequences. One of the local TV stations used about 1/4 of the news last evening telling tales from all over the country before they finally related that no cases have been reported anywhere near here.
I personally think they could have given us some more of Susan Boyle. But where the media have really missed the boat is with this.

enough bacon recipes
