Health note

Last week I finally was able to have the "other" cataract surgery. The first one¹ was July 12, 2018.

We (the optometrist, MB, the ophthalmologist, and practically anyone who's known me for more than a day or two) have known that it would have to be done. We just didn't know that the criteria for it to be covered would be five years after the first surgery².
All in all it was rather uneventful and the procedure itself was quick. The only drawback has been that I was originally referred to the surgeon last April. There was some kind of glitch in the system, and I was not contacted until I called the referring optometrist after waiting a month.
Another issue is it was determined when I had the original eye examination that I need a new eyeglasses prescription. I really did not need an eye exam to know I need new glasses. However, since I was being referred for eye surgery, nobody was offering an Rx because after surgery the prescription changes. So now I get to wait until next month to visit the optometrist and get new glasses. Meanwhile the current prescription is driving me even more nuts than before the procedure.

So the good news is the vision in my right eye is now better than before, and better than that of my left eye, which is still better than it was before it was surgically repaired. We'll know just how good everything is when I get glasses that work with both eyes.

Poorly
