So . . . the blogger shows me as signed in, but somehow that doesn’t translate to the Vance of the gargle.

Milestone two
Bear in mind we're only talking about the month of June.
I posted about it here.
It was my second blog post ever and the first to receive any comments.

What I promised

Eleven years ago . . .
I posted about having a couple of milestones (as in two) coming up.
I was wrong.
It's a few milestones . . . and here they come again.
Tomorrow is the first.
So come back and read about it.
I promise not to take up too much of your time.
The other two are later this month.
I will try to remember to post about them, too.
It may slip my mind, though.
MB and I are making a jailbreak, flying to Wisconsin.
The youngest granddaughter there is being confirmed on Sunday.
This trip may prove to be our only vacation getaway this year.
Five other trips of varying length have been canceled.

Happy Fathers Day
My two dads.
On the left is my biological father, who was killed in February 1944, six months after I was born.
On the right is my stepdad, who I called dad and, eventually, Pop. I met him in 1950, when he and my mother began dating. They married in August 1951.

Thursday it was 40
Months . . . that is.
MB and I still look at each other and smile . . . even laugh.
Or have these strange conversations :
The really strange thing is that it isn't strange.

Who knew?
This shelter in place, which seems to be in a state of collapse, gave ample time and opportunity to experiment in the kitchen.
MB and I are both fond of sourdough bread.
It isn't something you can just throw together.
It takes about a week before the starter is even ready.
Then there's a wait before it can be baked.
Fortunately, there are videos on YouTube that advise it isn't something for those who are impatient.

Harvest time
Four months ago MB and I went to a gymnastics meet at McMinnville, OR.
While we were there I got a much needed haircut.
It had been two months since the previous cut.
Yesterday, I was finally able to hook up with a barber again.
A lot of the delay has to do with the fact that I am picky.
When I lived up north it took me about 20 years to find a barber shop I really liked.
MB figured we need a before and after.
She also thought a location shot was appropriate

I looked
Hoping to find something of interest I scanned a number of previous posts from June 14.
I didn't find anything.
I mean, there were posts.
I just wasn't thrilled with any.

This!
I was inspired enough to post it on koobecaf yesterday.
There was so little that the weather service didn't bother to even remark.
The 70+ degree weather is easy to take.

A friend emailed this.
Seemed like it's worth passing along.
In the following analysis the French Professor Bruno Dubois, Director of the Institute of Memory and Alzheimer's Disease (IMMA) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière - Paris Hospitals, addresses the subject in a rather reassuring way:
"If anyone is aware of his memory problems, he does not have Alzheimer's"
This is "Anosognosia" or temporary forgetfulness.
Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease.
The most common cases are:
Many people are concerned about these oversights hence the importance of the following statement:
"Those who are conscious of being forgetful have no serious problem of memory."
"Those who suffer from a memory illness or Alzheimer's, are not aware of what is happening."
Professor Bruno Dubois, reassures the majority of people concerned about their oversights:
"The more we complain about memory loss, the less likely we are to suffer from memory sickness."
Now, for a little neurological test.....
Only use your eyes.
1- Find the C in the table below!

2- If you have already found the C, then find the 6 in the table below.

If you pass these three tests without a problem:
- you can cancel your annual visit to the neurologist.
- your brain is in decent working shape!
- you are far from having any relationship with Alzheimer's.
Share this with your over-60-friends, it can be reassuring.

1. I forget the names of families .It often happens in people 60 years and older that they complain that they lack memory. "The information is always in the brain, it is the "processor" that is lacking."
2. I do not remember where I put some things .
This is "Anosognosia" or temporary forgetfulness.
Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease.
The most common cases are:
- forgetting the name of a person,After 60 years most people have such a difficulty, which indicates that it is not a disease but rather a characteristic due to the passage of years .
- going to a room in the house and not remembering why we were going there,
- a blank memory for a movie title or actor, an actress,
- a waste of time searching where we left our glasses or keys .

Be nice
The other day I scanned the stat page for this blog.
It's not how many views it gets so much as what posts are being viewed.
What really blows me away is when I look at some of those posts and ask myself, "Did you write that?"
I was going to say I've become a stoic.
Then I looked at the description of stoic.
Let's just say I have become much less animated and vocal.
I'll pick the topics I want to write about.
Then I will think, "Do I really want to defend that?"
I have better things to do than pick fights, even little ones.
I'm pretty sure my motto today is:

. . . or be happy?

Yesterday
This completely slipped by me.
It was 14 years ago that GS and I met MB and Gary and became really good friends.
Today two of us look at each other and one will say, "Who'd a thunk!"
