MISSION STATEMENT:

What was here yesterday probably has no bearing on what is here today.

What you see today will have no bearing on what you see here tomorrow

Two things

  1. I can't seem to get around to posting much.
  2. The bots are trolling . . .   I can tell because page views are way up
Maybe it will settle down sometime next month.
I the meantime we're rotating grandkids until the weekend, when we return two of them to Washington.
That was going to be a mini road trip, but it will probably just be a rubber band.
ya know, just snap back

I'm legal

The Fossil's registration has been renewed, though you wouldn't think it should be necessary to have to log into the DMV website three different times to complete a simple process.

Howzat workin' for ya?

The Fossil went to the Honda dealer today for smog inspection, oil change, and the airbag recall.
Two out of three were completed.
The smog inspection couldn't be completed because the equipment "kicked it out."
Huh?
Yeah, for some reason their testing equipment wouldn't accept the Fossil.

So now I have to take it to a smog check station to be tested and, if it doesn't pass, take it back to the dealer for repairs.
Then after it's repaired it goes back to the smog check station for re-testing.

Izzat stupid, or what?

Welcome to the splash* zone

I'd post pictures, but . . .

Anyway, there are family visiting this week.
The Wisconsins [yes, the ones we visited last week] and the Washingtons are here and the locals join them here.
They arrived in time to watch the neighborhood safe & sane fireworks . . .   as opposed to the airborne splody fireworks the drive pet owners nuts.
That means eight grandkids (the adult grands stayed home for work), three offspring, three spouses, plus MB, the She Hulk, a sister in law, and I dodging one another.
That's pushing the limits for group gatherings under the guidelines, but everyone has been sheltering in place and observing the handwashing, facemasking, distancing, and no singing.

Speaking of firworks, at the height of the moment it sounded a lot like what it have been like at Gettysburg.

What's in a name

There are a number of acquaintances who have an affinity for naming their vehicles.
Suldog had Roddy the Wonder Car, which no longer ventures on the roads of Massachusetts.
The https://oldafsarge.blogspot.com/ had The Big Girl, which has recently been replaced by Blue.
There are others, too, but I'm not inclined to write about everyone I know whose vehicle has been named.
What I am about to do is tell you that I have discovered the moniker for the Honda after 14 years.
I was scanning koobecaf on Friday morning.
There was an ad for Columbia Sportswear, specifically some shorts.
I probably wouldn't have noticed except the color caught my eye.
The color was called Fossil (obviously a proprietary name).
It is so similar to the color of my car that I can't pass up this opportunity to finally christen the 14 year old vehicle.
It is also appropriate that today is Sunday, when most christenings are done.
It's the Fossil.

Fossil
It goes in for the fourth airbag replacement, an oil change, and the biennial smog check on Tuesday.

Friday cat

While perusing old photos I found a picture of Junior (aka Sebastian).
I don't know how he figured the pomegranate bush was going to keep him dry while it rained.

Here we are again

A week ago Tuesday (6/23) MB and I flew to Wisconsin to attend a family event.
We took all the precautions we could.
I noticed that many folks at the airports used every excuse possible to not wear masks.
Most folks did wear masks.
Not wearing a mask on the aircraft was not an option.
The Sacramento Airport was not crowded.
Denver was definitely much busier.
Milwaukee wasn't, but we were the last plane to arrive.

When we got to our destination we took the additional precaution to shower and wash our travel clothes before going to bed.
That made for a late evening.

We found it just as easy to shelter in place there as it is at home.

Coming back it was more of the same.
Milwaukee Airport was busier, but obviously not anywhere near normal what we've seen in the past.
St Louis was pretty busy, but most of the vendors were closed.
Sacramento was about like when we left.
Traffic on the way home at the rush hour was relatively light.

We showered and washed clothes again before going to bed.
It's good to be home.
