Random Thoughts for the Day:

.
I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

Was learning cursive really necessary?

Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

Bad decisions make good stories.

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

you'll never guess which
ones I liked the most

That noise again!!!

.
Yesterday was the first day of the air show.
I attempted to shoot some video with my relatively new camera.
Here's some video shot by a professional.
I should mention that I
was in the back yard.
The professional was
at the actual air show

Then I Found This...

...from someone else who shoots better video than I
and whose back
yard is closer
to the airport

What? I can't be wrong?

.
Tuesday I blasted whoever decided that creating road diversions when heavy traffic is expected is a good idea.
Today I have to backpedal.
This morning I had the opportunity [sic] to drive out toward the airport and found it necessary to travel over the route with the bridge construction.
Thank you to the folks on that job who not only have the road opened to two-way traffic, but now have the new, much wider bridge open.
I know that the other folks
who travel this route
regularly appreciate
it even more than I

Sure has been noisy around here

.
The F/A18 Hornets that the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels fly are something else. It doesn't help that our house is in the flight pattern for their shows on Saturday and Sunday. They have been rehearsing since just before noon.
It sounds like a freight train whenever one of the six planes flies nearby.
actually freight trains are quieter

What exactly are the implications?

.
When I was in the Navy, there was a shipmate [call him Dingle] who appeared to be the perfect example for Murphy's Law. Everything that could go wrong, did. His explanation was that it was all part of the master plan [his words]. There was a huge conspiracy against him.
Which brings us to a current situation.
This weekend is the Redding Air Show. It is only one of the biggest events in Shasta County, with upwards of 20,000 attending over the two days. The promoter, The Exchange Club of Redding, and those planning to attend could certainly make a case that there is a minor conspiracy by someone. It seems that two of the four routes leading toward the airport have major impediments.
There is a major bridge construction job to the south. This has been ongoing for over a year, but it is interesting that only this week was it necessary to remove the pavement and reduce traffic to alternating one lane use.
To the north there is sewer replacement work on Rancho Road. What's worse is if the work had been done properly in the first place, two years ago, it wouldn't be necessary. But did it have to be started a week ago?
Oh, and whoever planned this has really big time connections. There are two entirely separate agencies involved with the construction work on these jobs.
Yeah, we did call him Dingle

on the other hand

.
I think maybe that what validates the quote here is that there is an implied interference with routine. It is the unplanned or unexpected interference that causes the most aggravation.
That doesn't make it
any easier to deal with

My pirate name is:

Mad William Flint

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Still waitin'

.
See this.

So a friend [not one of my British friends, though some might think so] sent the following:
Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly;
but when they lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with a pet dog named Scooter as his only companion.

But poor Scooter was old and one day he died.

Muldoon was heartbroken and went see Father Patrick, to the parish priest and asked, "Father, me dog is dead. Could ya' be sayin' a mass for the poor creature?"

Father Patrick replied, "I'm afraid not; we canna' have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe. Maybe they'll do something for the creature."

Muldoon said, "I'll go right away Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate for the service?"

Father Patrick exclaimed, "Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn't ya' tell me Scooter was Catholic?"

I went to a seafood disco last week...
and pulled a mussel.

I didn't say they were good

No original thoughts today

"I can't bring myself to say, 'Well, I guess I'll be toddling along.'
It isn't that I can't toddle. It's just that I can't guess I'll toddle."
~ Robert Benchley
His grandson's famous quote is:
"We'll need a bigger boat."

Locked out

.
My youngest sister's oldest daughter... yeah, yeah, my niece, but if I don't differentiate somebody is sure to squawk... has a blog. She hasn't posted on it since June, but I used it as a portal to a couple of other blogs on which I lurked. Now suddenly blogger won't allow me to visit her blog. I tells me that I that I must be invited.
Well you don't have to hit me with a brick. I know rejection when I see it.
BTW - she's out of the will

They're as bad as the state legislature

.
I don't regularly call specific attention to items on the blogs over in the left column, but I believe this to be extremely important.
maybe they should
contact the UN?
