Random Thoughts for the Day:

.
I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

Was learning cursive really necessary?

Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

Bad decisions make good stories.

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

you'll never guess which
ones I liked the most

Friday cat

 This is Ace

He is our granddog

He is just waiting for someone to leave some food, any food except dog food, unattended.
As big as he is, he is intimidated by cats.
Really!

Doin' some remembering

. . . of folks gone, but not forgotten,
I knew them here, on the blog, and even met a few of them, even more than once.
This weekend there's a reunion of a bunch of us from college.
There were a lot more of us once.
We'll probably hoist glass in their memory and smile, remembering the good times.

It's really huge

You may wish to double click either, or both, of the following images for more detail.

MB and I took a little road trip.
We called it August 2023*.
Near the finale we stopped between Flagstaff and Phoenix to see Montzuma Castle National Monument.

*We were away all month, almost 7,000 miles

Out of practice

The truth is my phone and tablet are nearly impossible to use for blog posts because of physical challenges. The PC is in an inconvenient location so I have to make it a habit to go and sit down and write a post. Sadly, it isn't a part of my regular routine any longer. That means the time I would spend blogging has been filled with other tasks.

So, you might ask what's filling my time. It all started with texting "Good Morning!" to some family members, which has expanded to many family members and a bunch of acquaintances. Then someone introduced me to Wordle. Next, MB and I did a river cruise that ends in Paris, so I started learning some French from and online language app. I'm no longer learning French because I switched to Spanish. I has two years of it back in high school and have a pretty good base to work with. If that isn't enough, somebody else introduced me to Connections , which like Wordle can be a real time waster user. The worst of it all is I have daily activities the take me away from the fun and games listed above.

Anyhow, it will take some time to get back into the swing of things where it comes to the Blog.
Maybe I can come up with cat pics on Fridays, like Mimi suggested?

I told you I get up early

Yep, it's that time of year again for us to take our annual senior citizen test.

Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles.

As we grow older, it’s important to keep mentally alert.

If you don’t use it, you will lose it !!!

Here is a very private way to gauge how your memory compares to your last test.

Some may think it is too easy, but the ones with memory problems may have difficulty.

Take this test to determine if you’re losing it or not.

The spaces below are so you don’t see the answers until you’ve answered

OK, RELAX, clear your mind and begin.

#1. What do you put in a toaster ?

Answer: 'bread.' If you said 'toast', just give up now and go do something else.

And, try not to hurt yourself.   If you said, bread, go to Question #2.

  # 2. Say 'silk' ten times Now spell 'silk.' What do cows drink ?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said 'milk,' don't attempt the next question.

Your brain is already over-stressed and may even overheat.

Content yourself with reading more appropriate literature such as Women’s Weekly or Auto World.

However, if you did say 'water', proceed to Question #3

# 3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from ?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass.

If you said 'green bricks', why are you still reading this ???
PLEASE, go lie down !

But, if you said 'glass,' go on to Question #4.

# 4. Please do not use a calculator for this for it would be cheating:

You are driving a bus from New York City to Philadelphia.

In Staten Island, 17 people got on the bus.

In New Brunswick, 6 people get off the bus and 9 people get on.

In Windsor, 2 people get off and 4 get on.

In Trenton, 11 people get off and 16 people get on.

In Bristol, 3 people get off and 5 people get on.

And, in Camden, 6 people get off and 3 get on.

You then arrive at Philadelphia Station.

Without going back to review, how old is the bus driver ?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud !

Don't you remember your own age?!?! It was YOU driving the bus!

PS: 95% of people fail most of the questions!

MB is gonna ask me to remove her name if I keep this up

Normal is just . . .

It's Monday.
I have no idea what you're expecting to find. Just bear in mind that I get up really early on Mondays voluntarily.

I was thinking about some words we use regularly.
Normal is one.
Everyone has their own idea of what Normal is.
About the only time I use it is when I set some dial with that word printed on it.

Old is another one of those words.
What is Old.
I have had my car, the Fossil, since 2006. It has 173K+ on the odometer. There are still a lot of the same model  . . . and color (much to my confusion)   . . . on the road today. I wish shoes would last so long.
Someone said this blog was old. Not goin' there.
I'm not gonna talk about peoples' ages. That gets kinda close to home. We'll just there are some things I shouldn't do any more.

Oh, yeah,  and I get up even earlier on Tuesdays.

Really!

 Today we're working on the sidebar . . .

. . . and looking at old posts.

From where I sat it looked like a tie game

I'm becoming more of a soccer (football to the rest of the world) each day. My grandchildren play. So have MB's grands.

Today I was at the youngest's game. The team is made up of fourth and fifth grade kids. They're in a youth soccer program. Whoever made the schedule had them playing sixth and seventh grade kids, who've been playing together for at least a year. Three of "our" players had no prior game experience.

Initially, the game went as one might expect for a first of the season, a lot of tentativeness on the part of both teams. After a few minutes the other team took advantage of their size and experience, became more aggressive, and missed several shots on goal. Then they started working together and score three goals before the half.

The younger kids didn't back down. I don't know what Coach told them, but they came out unintimidated and found a little aggression of their own. Their goalie was flawless when the defense faltered, and they were able to attack the other teams goal, only missing shots, not opportunities. They finall put one in the net with about two minutes left.

I realize they were outscored. But looking at it from another perspective, and considering the handicap, they lost the first half 3-0 and won the second half 1-0.

It's probably about time . . .

. . . for something to happen here again.

I'm not sure what it might be, but it's most likely not going to be Earth shaking.
Last month one of those so-called benchmark events occurred. It was the start of a new decade, and, for the first time, I'm kinda starting to feel it.

One of the things I want to do is clean up the sidebar. Nothing much has been done with it since the beginning, except for some add-ons. It's time for subtraction.

I don't know how often I will find the time to sit down and post anything. Hopefully it will be often enough for some to be attracted.

. . . just sayin'
