MISSION STATEMENT:

What was here yesterday probably has no bearing on what is here today.

What you see today will have no bearing on what you see here tomorrow

New addition

.
I can't remember how I found it, but the latest addition to my blog list, Lowering the Bar, really serves more than one purpose.
  1. It is entertaining and sometimes educational
  2. It gives me some insight to the legal profession
The second is important because I have some fairly close relatives who are attorneys, not to mention some very good friends in Lions who are also attorneys.

The other milestone mentioned earlier:
Today is the first anniversary of the first post on this blog
I should probably
quit while I am
still standing?

Oh yeah and this...

.
I have to go to the DMV today to renew my driver's license.
That's three times this month that I will have had contact with them. The registration for the Ranger and the Accord both came due.
don't even ask about what
it ended up costing to
re-register the Ranger

Almost $1000 after repairs!!!
.

As promised

.
Today is Day 365. There was something else too, but I forget what it was.
as for staying under 190 . . .
dream on
Ice cream tastes too good

Wicked premise

.
You may have noticed 1491 listed on read list. It's another of those non-fiction tomes books with interesting artwork on the cover that I picked up. It a slow read because there's a ton of information to digest. It is almost as exciting at the book on neurosurgery or that other brain book that I read.
Seriously, it is cool to know what went on for about 14,000 years before Columbus showed up.
Oh, and the Giants took
two out of three from the As

Neat plan

.
There's really only one major hangup.
A local barrister. . . not to be confused with barista. . . has posted on his blog that if he were king of California, he wouldn't leave budget decisions for the pols. He'd appoint a Final Decisions Commission to determine what waste to remove from Gov't.
I leave it to you to
determine the hangup

Even sooner

.
Watch this spot for that milestone thingy.
...and the Giants
swept the Rangers!!!

Oh! Add a task to that too.

Thought for the day moment

.

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
— Albert Einstein

Here's an interesting reading list

did you really think
I was going to write
an original book list?

Now this is laying it all out...

.
...where everyone can see it!
This is a gem.
I may even go back
and read it again

Not today

.
We can all be reasonably certain that the Giants will not lose today.
.

Coming soon to a blog near . . . ?

.
Anyway sometime in the really near future are, not one but, two milestones.

BTW - the Giants lost yesterday

Gone all day

.
I was off to Dunsmuir early this morning to do an officer training session for Lions. When I got home I had to prepare for another session in Loma Rica tomorrow. Then there was a Giants Vs. As game on the tube. We aren't having many games broadcast up here so I had to watch. It was good to see the Big Unit get another W.
That's baseball Brian

Follow up

.

Yesterday's comment about not saying anything unless I had something to say really isn't true. I think I have proved that on numerous occasions. I am actually more likely to say something just to stir the pot.

I am happy to see that the Winter Sports Fest is finally coming to a climax. I'm really not anti-NHL or anti-NBA. I just think that the middle of June is a little late to still be trying to determine a champion.

uh huh!

.

Yeah, I've just been lurking

.
So what?
I am becoming a firm believer in the philosophy of "if you don't have anything to say, don't say it."

and definitely don't repeat it

Again. . . from my email

.

Today, thanks to men like Edison and Franklin, we receive almost unlimited benefits from electricity.
For example, in the past decade scientists have developed the laser, an electronic appliance so powerful that it can vaporize a bulldozer 2000 yards away, yet so precise that doctors can use it to perform delicate operations to the human eyeball, provided they remember to change the power setting from "Bulldozer" to "Eyeball."
Bet it would be fun
to use on weeds

Another email

.

The office of Senator David Mark just informed me that they have a ATM card for me valued at $6.8 million. Unfortunately I can't claim it because I don't have the $75 needed for FedEx.

shucks!!!

Yesterday

.
Six members of the Anderson Lions Club (somebody had to take the picture)
picked up litter along Highway 273 in Anderson.
We won't mention
who didn't show up
or that it was the
second try

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Read a quote this morning.

.

  • Gustave Flaubert
"The whole dream of democracy is to raise the proletarian to the level of stupidity attained by the bourgeois."

It probably loses something in the translation
