As luck would have it

We left the Dallas area this morning as the temperatures were dropping.
I watched the reading in the dashboard bounce between 39° and 37°.
It was 80° Yesterday.
Anyway, as we progressed west and south, the temperature began to rise so we were comfortable at 77° in Pecos, Texas, where we enjoyed Taco Tuesday.

Delicious!

Beat the weather

As we’ve traveled west, we have been fortunate.
We have found, mostly, clear skies.
What rain we have found arrived after we’d reached our destination
We head west from the Dallas area today, headed southwest, as winter arrives, again, from the northwest.

Hot Springs

We added another National Park, bringing the total to nine for this trip. Too late, we found that we’d have liked to explore more of the area, but we had someplace else to be.

We stopped to eat

 . . .  In Memphis.
Ya gotta have BBQ there.
The only problem is I forgot to get a before photo.

Oh . . . Crap!

I’ve been so busy seeing friends I missed a few days.

We visited a swamp.

Stood in the middle of a street to take a picture.

. . . commiserated with a friend about his summer electric usage.

Ate ice cream, lots of ice cream.

Collections

We collect lighthouses.
What I mean is, we seldom pass up an opportunity to visit one.

Yesterday

St. Austine, FL

Then today

. . . and while we were at it

Wild things

So, we took a little ride and found the first sunshine since leaving San Antonio last Monday.
When in Florida I guess it’s obligatory to look for alligators.
It started out tame.

Armadillo

First gator was little

Another small gator

Same small gator

A bigger one

There’s the really big one

More from yesterday

 This is for Sarge

*There we were . . .
. . . someplace on the way from Texas to Florida,
when I saw a sign for Battleship Parkway.

There’s more than a battleship there.

This for Sarge, too
