Dead Frog

@
One of the teachers had a kindergartner come up to her and say that he Had found a frog.
The teacher asked if the frog was alive or dead.
The student said it was dead.
The teacher asked how he knew.
The boy said, "I pissed in its ear."
The teacher said, "You what?"

He said, "You know, I went to his ear and said, 'PSST!' and it didn't move. So it must be dead."
I don't know...
maybe it's because
frogs and Halloween
kinda go together

random thoughts and a rant or two

~
Over at my other place I have started something than I may rue. With any luck I will finish some day and maybe even make some sense of it. It may not run as long as my friend, Brian's, story of Les Levandes, but then that's probably a good thing.

It's been three days since I got my new smile... Boy! am I lovin' that... and so far there's only been a little soreness and tenderness, which I am lovin' even more. These things are gonna take some getting used to because they take up quite a bit of space and aren't exactly anchored. I'm still looking forward to a juicy hamburger.

It looks like the issue with the updating in the side bar has yet to be resolved. I checked on the Blogger Help Page and only found that a few others, besides Brian and I are having the same problem. It only seems to affect the blogs listed under Family, Friends and My other blog, but what's worse, it carries over onto the dashboard under Blogs I'm Following. I would post an inquiry, but Blogger seems to be ignoring enough folks already.
Then... I went to mess with the font in this post and found that the font thingy isn't there so I am stuck using bold because everything is already italicized and I am doing my best to refrain from using quotation marks except when actually quoting something.

...and on another note

.
Some of you are aware that I was ordered by the neurosurgeon who did the fusions to quit smoking. Maybe when I posted about that... like when I first started this blog... I didn't emphasize enough that I was ready to quit, meaning that I really wanted to quit. Like I was 100% motivated to quit.
That is one of the reasons that I understand the inability for so many others to stop smoking.
You see that 100% motivation probably will only help a little, but without it the cause is almost hopeless.
Oh, and one other thing... you have to do it for yourself.
take this for
what it's worth

.

That's not right

.
I just looked at my niece's blog. According to blogger it's been a week since I have posted.
what's going at
Googleplex anyway?

Did you find the secrets in yesterday's post?

I give up

.
I can't even be miserable... except for the food part... I don't normally spit or swish anyway. I'm glad that I wasn't looking looking forward to pain or major discomfort. So I guess I will just have to be satisfied with complaining about the soft food thing.
others should
be so lucky

.

I'm back

.
So far so good, but then the anesthetic on the lowers hasn't worn off yet.
Can't talk, can't eat, can't spit, can't swish... gonna be miserable for awhile.
be nice,
paybacks
are a bitch

.

Later...

.
Maybe this afternoon, maybe tomorrow... I will post something about the visit to the dentist.
Meanwhile, I will be grateful that whatever discomfort I feel is nothing compared to many others throughout the world.
more on this here

Oops!

.
The dentist office called and asked if I could come in late this afternoon for the installation of my new chompers. Of course I immediately said "YES!!!"
Then I looked at my calendar, pitiful that it is, and found that I had another commitment for this evening that I really can't shouldn't miss.
As I was about to call the dentist back, my phone rang again. It was the dentist office. They realized that there are still a number of teeth, useless though they are, which have to be relocated to someplace other than my jaw. So would it be okay to schedule for tomorrow morning?
The good news is that the temporary new teeth are here.
The bad news is that I have 24 hours to think about what's next. I guess it means I will have to get a mask for Halloween after all
That's what I get for posting this?
soon I'll be able to talk about food without crying

.

I wish they'd fix it

.
This having to surf through the blogosphere because the widget on the side isn't updating to all of the latest posts is really bugging me.
That, and seeing that practically everyone else writes in a much more satisfactory manner than I. I think I have determined what my problem is. I can't hold a thought long enough to develop it. Although I don't Twitter, my mind does. Hence most of my posts are relatively brief...
which may be a good thing?

I know that's not my line, but it really fits.

That is so wrong!!!

.
I just saw a caption under a picture on Wikipedia that San Jose in the largest city in Northern California. I suppose that would be true if San Jose were in Northern California, but those of us who actually are in Northern California know that San Jose is only near Northern California.
Heck, it's a real stretch for Sacramento to claim that it is in Northern California.
I guess it just help prove that you can't believe everything you read on the Internet.
only what folks
put in their blogs

More 'Keeping in touch'

.
So while I, and others who shall remain nameless, denigrate social networking sites and those who seem to live on them, I don't entirely refrain from participation. Recently [like yesterday] I took part in two quizzes, which I am sure are meant to be fun rather than serious.
The first is "Where should you be living?" Now I don't know how many cities are in the database, but I do know that five others besides me took the quiz. One got Dublin, two others Rome and the final two San Francisco. Paris was my destination. I wonder what city Alan would get if he took it.
The second quiz, "What's your real age?" was a little simpler... also possibly more accurate. I should explain that I believe then they say "real age," they're talking about level of maturity, not chronological age. I will leave it to the reader to guess the final outcome.
Suffice it to say that I scored
higher than expected

Keeping in touch

.
I think I mentioned that I have a social networking account or two.
I also believe that I let on that I'm not exactly enamored of some of the nonsense that some folks post continually.
Anyway, I actually did something about it. I hadn't realized that I could hide from some of those folks or from some of the apps. My home page is so much cleaner now.
nonsense is a better word,
right?

Have I mentioned. . .

.
. . .that I have a social networking account?
Yes/no? Well it really doesn't matter, but I actually have more than one.
What's really disturbing is that both of them are almost an afterthought. I almost have to be reminded to check if there's anything worth seeing.
From what I can gather, anecdotally, I am not the only blogger with such accounts who feels this way.

BTW - check out this post from the funny & stupid customer quotes site. After spending almost all of my working career in customer service of one kind or another, I find it refreshing to see that there were even stupider folks that some of those with whom I dealt.
I don't really
see any correlation

Gremlins

.
I don't know who they are.
I don't know how they do it.
But, someone keeps sneaking into this blog and messing with the layout.
Specifically, whoever it is has been copying the information about the books I've read and reposting it at the bottom of the list.
Just a few moments ago I had to take the time to delete about six repeated titles.
and the so-called
United Nations
does nothing

.

Wouldn't you know it

.
Almost as soon as I removed my niece's blog from the "Blogs I'm Following" list, she made it available again and started posting. Of course the only reason I was really irritated was because she had a bunch of links that I used to get to other blogs. It's a whole lot easier to let others keep track of things for you. I'm just really glad that I never removed her link from this blog.

You may notice a new addition that has Top Billing over on the left. This post and this post probably can explain it better than my rehashing it here.
I try not to get
too wrapped up
in this blogging
thing... reading
them is bad enough

I'm still working on the duck story

The real difficulty with the duck thing is that it is a work in progress. I mean the story isn't over yet. It continues to be fun and humorous for those involved and there are a number of us.
