Notice how my posts are somtimes later in the day?
Sarge posted.
I kinda have to disagree with him.
Not totally disagree, mind you, but somewhat.
It's blogging about what may interest others and fits within ones ideas of suitability that's hard.
If you're gonna throw any old thing out there, you might as well just have a koobecaf page.
The hardest thing about blogging, for me, is when, like yesterday, I don't have a post.
Wait, that's wrong, it's when I don't have an excuse for not posting.
Yesterday, I was up at 0515 [that's about 45 minutes past zero dark thirty] so I could get on the road for an eye exam that was scheduled over one year ago.
That's my excuse . . . I was on the road . . . 350 miles, give or take, round trip.
(I did haul back some more stuff [probably junk])
Lame excuse.
I knew I had the appointment months ago and could have put a post in the queu [see, Juvat, I know English English, too].
Music videos are a good substitute for real blog posts.
Buck taught me that.
I miss seeing Buck correct the Sarge's grammar, particularly the placement of prepositions.
I case you're wondering . . . Sunday was day that dredged up some memories of 2014.
It was a little dusty.
Everything's okay.
. . . and that's how I blog.

I was reminded
First, of a potential road rage incident in 1996* on the bridge over the Willamette River in Portland, where I first uttered the words, "Lead, follow, or get out of the way."
There aren't too many things in civilian life much worse than an decisive driver at 75 mph.
GS was with me and wondered where I'd come up with that.phrase.
I didn't know.
Second, by Sarge's post this morning about Leadership.
Third, by this on Espresso. . .
Finally, by this little add-on and the bottom of an email:
*I remember because it was out first road trip in Ol' Betsy

Saw this, had to share
Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

One more thing
I was going to put this in yesterday's post.
I forgot.
I would like to claim I found it all by myself, but another blogger steered me to it.
I won't even try to paraphrase what he says.
Just click on the picture.
It should take you to his post.
Then there was this :
I saw it later and commented, ". . .do it with irony"

I heard the rain
Wait. . . !!!
What?
There were how many pageviews yesterday?
Anyway, it started slowly.
The rain, that is.
Then I could hear it coming down the spout [to wash the spider out?].
Then It was fairly obvious there was wind accompanying the rain, as it was hitting the patio door in the bedroom horizontally [or a reasonable facsimile thereof].
Winter has arrived.
Finally!
I really hate it when a storm arrives in the wee hours of the morning,
Even when you know it's coming, it doesn't help.
It is almost like having houseguests arrive at a late hour.
Oh, well.
At least the storm doesn't have to be fed.
We're still on the fringe.
Per the pros (NWS):

.Weather summary...
A wintry storm system will be moving through northern California today.
This system will be much wetter... snowier... and bring a greater chance of thunderstorms than the system on Sunday.

So. . . a Monday update
For want of something better, I went into the wayback to see what was happening around here last year at this time.
You can look, too.
The archives are over on the left and down a little.
I'd leave a link, but it just doesn't interest me all that much to rehash frustration.
A little hint is, we are fairly happy with the Internet connection around here, now.
About the only complaint is with the wireless router's range, which varies at times.
Somewhere amidst the posts back then, Buck used the phrase, this, too, shall pass.
I was familiar with it then.
I am familiar with it now.
It's a fact.
Mondays aren't the same any more.
Nothing is quite the same any more.
Looking back, reading my own words brought tears.
It felt good.

Saw this
Actually, someone emailed it to me.
I was inspired to post it after reading about a man who wished he owned a boat.
I did it this way because it's easier than copy and paste.
I like Windows 7 for that.
I miss the old OS, though, and the software that went along with it.

Change
So we're settling into a routine around here.
That means if there was such a thing as normal, it would be just that.
The operative word is if.
We don't operate like we used to around here.
We probably won't, either.
A tremendous change has occurred over the past six months.
First, we went from a two-person household having another, younger, adult move in.
We do pretty much have an open door policy for out children.
We, unfortunately, no longer have a permanent guest room.
Next, as most of you know, one of us noticed a change in their health. and did something about it.
It was a smart move because of the discovery of an issue with no symptoms.
It became apparent there was a real benefit to having a third adult at home.
We spent three months in anticipation of major surgery.
Thank goodness it wasn't a case of week to week postponements and rescheduling.
It was only rescheduled one time.
Someone got to spend almost a month in the hospital.
Somebody else stayed nearby for all but two days.
The third person was close at hand much of that time, as well.
Grandma Skip's Mustang needed a major engine overhaul.
It was in the shop for over two weeks.
The car's all better now.
GS is going to be recovering for some time.
It's a slow process.
We aren't doing much of anything the same way any more.
Spontaneous takes a lot of planning.
Meals aren't determined on the fly.
There are always two people at home when GS is here.

Some catching up
More like goofing off...
I missed an opportunity to capture the high for the day. When's this stuff gonna end?
Yesterday was a repeat.

Thanks!
Through the efforts of Innominatus, Ivan Toblog, and Suldog (please read his post because he thinks I'm a genius) I have the old interface back (for awhile anyway).
So if you find yourself with the new interface and want to revert (I like that word), just look for your username in the upper right of the dashboard screen. Next to it is an icon that looks like a gear. Click on that. On the drop-down list that appears you can choose "Old Interface (yeah I know it sounds like some kind of sourmash from Kentucky)."
It's a terrible thing, I know, but I have to thank both the Sharks and the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors first, because they're not even going to make it into the NBA playoffs, which will probably end just before the next season starts. I do want to thank them for their efforts in keeping so many games close and actually winning some games nobody had any right to expect them to win.
And, the San Jose Sharks next, because they managed to get eliminated early in the first round of the NHL playoffs that they almost didn't even get into. If I wasn't so goshdarn parochial, I could probably remain interested enough to follow scores or even possibly cheer on another team.
Instead I have another source for sports entertainment. Actually more than one source ...Gabe's in Little League and then there's the Giants, who catch my attention every year at this time. I give thanks that there is little else to distract me from baseball until sometime late in summer when the NFL gears up (GO 'NINERS). My affinity to baseball and the NFL is mostly because they are played outdoors (I even watch the Premier League, partly because I understand the game [soccer] and mostly because it is played outside). That is probably also why I enjoy golf.
Sorry for the delay* in finishing this post. Company arrived.
My brother and sister-in-law stopped by on their return home from Portland (they were supposed to be here yesterday, but they're retired, too). You can pick your nose; pick your teeth; pick your seat; but, you can't pick family.
Now go read Craig's post.
attitude is everything

Oh, yeah, and this
On our way home from the H & G show we stopped at Bed Bath & Beyond because GS had decided we needed a new shower curtain in our bathroom.
did you know you can't
buy just a shower curtain?

Get over it
I don't know about anyone else, but I am really tired of hearing what's wrong with this or that politician... or how screwed up the Euro-zone is... or how much money was spent on Black Friday, Shop local Saturday, or Cyber Monday.
I'm not particularly religious in the church-going sense. But I believe if enough of us stopped doing whatever it is we're doing long enough to think seriously about this season, Advent, and what it represents... and you don't have to believe in God [or Santa Claus] to do that... then
Oh, yeah! So would everyone else who took the time to remember that the coming holiday is about hope. So take the time. Then when you can, catch someone's eye and smile.
it's all about me,

What I've learned
.
Let's see. Today is day 23 of our little journey.* I have grown to greatly appreciate being able to brew a full pot of coffee when I awake in the morning... I appreciatr it even more when Grandma Skip makes it. I appreciate having instant connection to the Internet. I really appreciate having my clothing either hanging in a closet or in a chest of drawers. I've come to appreciate that some people's dogs are better behaved that other's children... but they still bark. I have really learened to appreciae that some places mark their roads and highways well... others don't. Mattresses and pillows... what can I say about them without sounding like a chronic complainer?
it's a negative free zone ...right?
*I calculated that it has been 5124 miles so far

Quotation
