Anyway . . .
Where were we?
Oh, it's still day two and we still have to get back to the hotel from the Field Museum [don'tcha love shaggy dog stories].
First, let me tell you we didn't walk back.
We slipped out the back door of the museum and found ourselves looking at what appeared to be a giant spaceship inside a stadium.
Soldier Field
"Dedicated to the defenders of our liberty"
This picture doesn't do the vision any justice [you gotta see it from the southwest to realized what an abomination it truly is].

Then we sought a taxi.
There was a traffic control officer who was having very little luck controlling the drivers, except for keeping them from pulling to the curb to drop off or pick up passengers.
Had he not been there traffic would probably have been at a total standstill.
There was a cab queue, but it wasn't too well organized . . . oh, heck, it wasn't at all organized.
But we got a taxi back to the hotel anyway.

One of the doors on the left was ours.
forgot what we did next

Giant spaceship inside a stadium -- i think i will pass.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was a pretty awful thing they did to old Soldier Field, sticking that stainless-steel spaceship inside the classic old marble colonnade. . .
ReplyDeleteThe reason we didn't walk back from the Field Museum was because my shoe was broken. It broke on the way to the museum. After the mile plus there and three hours of wandering in the museum, I determined that I was not going to make it much further with a broken wheel. The good news is that I repaired the shoe with Shoe Goo when we got home.
