We had two days left before returning to reality.
We had decided to forgo the Road to Hana, a 130 mile round trip.
But we needed something to do.
The decision was made to look for big surf again.
The first trick was to find the right turnoff from the main road.
When I asked for directions the locals looked at out car with some skepticism.
When we found the road I understood why.
Even dirt bikes were taking it slow and easy.

This was where Google stopped |
There was no thought of trying to turn around.
It was a real adventure meeting a vehicle coming from the other direction.
When we got to the end of the road there were a few vehicles . . .all four-wheel drive . . .parked at the edge of the cliff.
There was a narrow trail down to the water about 1/3 mile long.
We decided to forgo the climb.
From our perch the surf appeared fairly mild.
Then we turned around, drove back to our hotel, and lay by the swimming pool.
That evening we had dinner at a nice restaurant in Kihei with my brother, sister-in-law and her sister.
The fun part of that was posting pictures of the food to F/B [will refrain from posting them here].
